About Me
Ahoj! My name is Vojtěch Brůža (Vojta).
I am a Creative Technologist and R&D Engineer building immersive, playful, and interactive experiences that engage all the senses. My portfolio showcases projects in Virtual Reality, Human-Computer Interaction, and Web Development.
My Background
With a PhD in Computer Science from Masaryk University focused on collaborative virtual reality for education, my curiosity drives me to navigate unknown paths to achieve meaningful goals. I love bridging the gap between rigorous technical research and engaging, human-centric design. My work focuses on innovation in the XR space and immersive storytelling.
My Approach to Work
While I enjoy coding independently, my best work emerges through teamwork. I thrive in environments where I can take responsibility for the technology we build, while also supporting, mentoring, and guiding the people involved.
Beyond the Screen
I am extroverted by nature. When I am not building interactive web or VR experiences, you can find me organizing community events, leading teams, composing music, dancing, or exploring new cuisines.

Experience
I completed my Ph.D. in Computer Science at the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University, focusing my research on developing interactive experiences for education in collaborative immersive virtual environments. Throughout my studies, I was an active member of both the Visualization Laboratory and the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory. For a deeper dive into my research outcomes, please visit my dissertation project page.
Alongside my research, I discovered a strong passion for mentoring and education. I dedicated significant time to teaching creative coding via the Generative Design course (as well as other courses such as Computer Graphics or AI for Games)and guiding students through their bachelor’s and master’s theses. The final chapters of my dissertation include more detailed information about the specific classes I taught and the student works I supervised. You can also view the official record of my supervised students on the university’s information system.
Education
- Ph.D. in Computer Science — completed 2026 Thesis: Developing Interactive Experiences for Education in Collaborative Immersive Virtual Environments
- Doctor of Natural Sciences (RNDr.) in Visual Informatics — completed 2022 Thesis: Education in Collaborative Immersive Virtual Reality
- Master’s Degree (Mgr.) in Applied Informatics — completed 2019 Thesis: Video Recording of Molecular Structures in Virtual Reality
- Bachelor’s Degree (Bc.) in Applied Informatics, specialization in Bioinformatics — completed 2017 Thesis: Optimisation of the Parasim Tool for Robustness Analysis of Dynamical Systems
I began cooperating with the Spatial Dynamics Lab group at University College Dublin (UCD) remotely through the Brno Squared Emcify project. Thanks to that collaboration, I was able to undertake a research internship there during my PhD studies in early 2023, which led to further joint work.
From July 2023 to November 2024, I worked at UCD on the Craft My Street project, funded by the Science Foundation Ireland OurTech Challenge (Grant Number 22/NCF/OT/11150). My role involved developing technical solutions for Minecraft (e.g., EbAcraft) and supervising students who were creating projects using, for example, React, Godot, or Minecraft.
After the project concluded, I continued collaborating with UCD on other initiatives during 2025, such as the GeoDesign game, where I expanded my technical skill set by building complex real-time systems for participatory urban planning.
In 2026 we still continue on our collaboration for example on Craft-My-Play and hopefully we will keep on working together in the future.
I worked at the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University, on the TAČR project (TL03000346), focused on Education in Collaborative Immersive Virtual Environments (EduInCIVE). I served as the lead developer of the eDIVE platform. During this project, I gained extensive experience in real-time networking (Mirror) and virtual reality development using the XR Interaction Toolkit.
During my studies, I worked part-time at SAP Labs in Brno as a QA Automation Engineer on the Fiori team. Fiori is a web application platform for SAP’s enterprise software, and my work focused on automated testing and ensuring high-quality user experience across its interfaces.
Beyond the Screen: Community, Music & Movement
While I spend a lot of time with technology and research, I am deeply passionate about community, education, and the arts. Here are a few things that shape who I am outside of work:
🏕️ Scouting & “Learning by Doing”
“Learning by doing is a foundational principle of the Czech scout movement Junák” — happens to be the first sentence of my dissertation. Being a Boy Scout has profoundly shaped my life. It taught me practical skills, gave me lifelong friendships, and shaped my approach to leadership and academic research.
🎸 Music & Teaching
Music has been a huge part of my life since I joined my first band at 16. We recorded our first CD in 2014, and another project with a slightly different lineup from few years later is still up on Spotify today. Over the years, I’ve expanded into singing, composing, and writing lyrics.
I also love sharing music with others. I’ve taught piano since I was 15, instructed a university course on digital music composition, and mentored adults starting their musical journeys in the beginner-friendly band project through swing music school Kohutek (2025–2026). To bring people together, I organize “Kytarovky” — community jam sessions where dozens of friends meet up to play songs using our digital songbook at Kytario.
🕺 Movement & Dancing
I have always loved to move. I started doing parkour at 14, and by 16, I had discovered Standard and Latin dancing. Dancing perfectly bridges my love for movement and music. Today, you’ll often find me out dancing Lindy Hop with friends. I’m always eager to hit the dance floor, learn a new move, and share my skills with others.
🤝 Community & Leadership
Meeting people and building community drives a lot of what I do. I frequently volunteer at our local church, CityHouse Brno, which has given me incredible opportunities to grow as a musician, a leader, and a person. I also help out with the Czech version of Global Leadership Summit, an event I’ve been attending since I was 18 (back when it was held in Slovakia) and continue to be deeply inspired by today.
